Have you ever heard someone say “if I am honest” before making a statement? I hear it all the time, and it bothers me a lot. Why do people have to specify when they are being honest? Does that mean they are dishonest most of the time? Or are they trying to make themselves look better or avoid hurting someone’s feelings?

@gpowerf it’s a filler phrase. Usually means they have actually got anything of value to say so they pad out their words with phrases like this. Source: I frequently have little of any value to say yet speak anyway 😆
