I know there's questions about some of Brave CEO's past & views, but the browser is just so damned fast & efficient.

On that topic, didn't we all collectively turn a blind eye after an initial kerfuffle about the somewhat tankie views of Lemmy's core developers on account of enjoying the end result?

Perhaps, much like some works of fiction, we can separate the creator(s) from the work (especially where we're not actively financially contributing to / supporting said creators).

@wiredfire I don't anything about them, and until this Toot I didn't know their name. But largely I just use software or products if they are genuinely useful, and I haven't got much time for this person to said this at some point, or they did that.

I really really like a certain emulation-based retro computer that many people refuse to use. But in my view one crappy person among a whole team of people who developed this thing shouldn't be a reason why I don't use it. With that level of scrutiny, we would end up not using sooooooo many valuable products and software.

Let;s be honest here, GNU (which lots and lots of people use) is not exactly squeaky clean!

There are limits though, I'd not use an Andrew Tate browser. That's just a straight NO!

@gpowerf the team aspect is important. Many works are bigger than a single personality. As with Mr Tate yeah there’s going to be certain red lines but for the most part I find the tool is the important thing.

Retroarch has.. issues in its team but I’m absolutely still using that on my Retroid Pocket!

Ultimately there is always some shady person involved at some level. The devices we use, the energy that powers them, the manufacturing.. nothing is “clean” and it’s folly to prevent otherwise!
