Assuming the term “Musk to tusk” has yet to be coined, I’d like for that to be my first (and only) contribution to the migration discourse. #introduction #noxp

I've kind of posted an #introduction already since I joined.

In summary I make games for the #vic20 computer which is classed as #vintage or #retro now, using Turbo Rascal. In the future I'll likely make some Amstrad, #C64 and #atari games.

Twitter/Musk

@jonn_blanchard there are those who argue that Twitter is on its way to becoming a trillion-dollar application. I just don't think chaotic management and randomly trying "dumb stuff" is the way to achieve this.

Then again, I never like to bet against Elon Musk.

@LordArse is arguably one of the best sports games of all time. I still play it regularly to this day.

@gpowerf @RDHale that’s kind of how i see the future, there will be commercial instances set up to promote various things, and the kind of people who currently have “people” handling their social media will have someone running their own instance as well. As a balance to that, part of the beauty of the federated model is that misbehaving servers can be blocked at the discretion of each and every other server, so all the money and server farms in the world won’t necessarily buy your way into anyone else’s timeline.

@RDHale@mastodon.online the larger the community gets the more the community contributes back to itself. Many of us can start our own servers and work to cope with the load.

Where things get more complicated is supporting celebrities with millions of followers. For them perhaps there will be the need for either commercial instances or they will have to have their own instances to support them.

But I can easily envisage instances specifically for a certain type of celebs. Imagine a whole K-Pop instance for example.

If you download your Twitter archive it arrives wrapped as a static HTML page, which is not very useful for doing anything with, and worse: it requires the original account to be still active to do useful things like enlarge the images since they use t.co links.

So here's a Python script to convert a Twitter archive to markdown or other formats: github.com/timhutton/twitter-a

Now you can archive your tweets in any way you want.

@RDHale@mastodon.online as much as I hate the firings and the complete chaos that Twitter seems to be in and despite all his failings I don't fancy my chances of betting against him. There's a reason he has cars that are basically rolling robots and spaceships than land-like science fiction crafts.

I do like your idea though, and users seem to be going against him. So there is hope.

@electron_greg this is a huge advantage of the Fediverse. There's a home in it for everyone, with an emphasis on home.

I got up extra early this morning and rather than working out, I tried Sonic Frontiers for a few minutes.

It seems OK so far.

$80 could get you a blue tick next to your name for 10 months on the birdsite

Or

$80 could get you a Z80 based RC2014 Classic II running BASIC in 32k of RAM.

If you have saved $80 by switching from Twitter, what are you going to spend it on?

If you make a README.me for your GitHub profile, you can’t use it yet as #verification here because Github removes the REL=ME attributes. However, if you edit your actual profile on GitHub, and put your #Mastodon site as your homepage (that’s the one with the chain link) it will use REL=ME for that link, which means you can verify your GitHub. See my about profile for all three of my verified links!
