I keep seeing people say Mastodon is nothing like Twitter. And they’re right.

Mastodon is an echo of the old internet, it’s decentralised, chaotic. What you get depends on your sysadmin. You can’t search, everything has to be shared to you by a human. Networks split apart and rejoin. What you see is your unique connection to it.

Is this good? Maybe. But for me that’s the internet I grew up with. No algorithms, no targeted adverts, just human interaction, and it was glorious.

@InternetOfGames@awscommunity.social people seemed programmed to take teams, no matter the context…

Like..what 🤣 even Minecraft kids know about chat commands for all the creative stuff 😂💀

AI image generation tech can now create life-wrecking deepfakes with ease. All it takes is 5 social media photos

It might be time to take your photos off the Internet

@trinsec this was only zero because Google refunded Stadia hardware. Which is nice of them given that this works fine with my PCs.

By far the best free joypad I’ve ever had. Not a bad deal for £0.

Finally got to test the new #AsahiLinux graphics driver on my M2 Air and so far it works really well on #Ubuntu with gnome + wayland!

Thanks to @alyssa @lina @marcan and all involved in this awesome work 😄

@LoveRetroBTW I never used one back in the day, could never afford it over a game :) But I did buy an NES one much later in the last couple of years. Used it once... LOL

@dan when I sell my pickup truck eventually I might wear some little shorts and pose in front of it like that for the advert :)

GNU/Linux system "live screensaver problem" No matter what I did, I tried as root, it didn't work, wet cat food, bounty food didn't work.
I am desperate.🤔

@roseeater @plexus @Raspberry_Pi to be fair on this one issue Twitter and Mastodon were about the same. There was as much shouting on Twitter.

@BethO even as a person who likes pickups and finds them super practical I must agree that full-size pickups have gotten HUGE! Their noses are insanely high.

My solution (as a European who finds that trucks are long but their beds are often too short) is to go back to flat-nose/forward-control setups. This will do a number of things:

* Make the overall truck shorter.
* Make the bed longer for the same length truck.
* Greatly increase forward visibility.

There are passenger safety challenges with these designs but nothing that cannot be surmounted with current technology.

Also, we need to factor in that trucks no longer need a long nose to fit an engine, with everything going EV that's simply not needed.

PS: Also the problem is mostly the latest trucks from the big America 3: Silverado, F Series, RAM. The noses are just huge vertical slabs!

I have a Japanese mid-size pickup (an Isuzu D-Max) and the nose is much less aggressive and sloped like a car. This gives you better visibility than when driving a full size truck.
