Twitter is 14 hours into an outage in Australia and New Zealand.

There's a housing crisis in many cities. But cars can park free. Why not claim public street-space for those who need it? If you disguise your shelter as a polluting, duly-licensed private vehicle, like artist Michael Rakowitz did...
...the authorities should be fine with it.

Time for a proper introduction. I'm a wildfire and climate change researcher who has somehow remained employed in academia for 6 years. I worked in government for almost 10 years before that. Before that I studied neuroscience and biochemistry, before that business and German. Public interest science. Outreach, industry engagement. Anything to deepen the links between science and society. Oh and reading, and basketball, and work-life balance, and frivolity.

@ben well, I wouldn't know coz as you can see I'm looking up hockey, skating, and gaming things alone :)

@ben what's the evilest subreddit? Is there a genuinely evil one?

I remember the bad old day when Reddit was pretty mean. But I thought things had changed.

I JUST FINISHED "THE MENU" ON HBO MAX, AND FREAKING WOW

My advice? Go in knowing absolutely nothing.

Don't watch the trailer.

Don't read the reviews.

Don't even check out the basic premise.

This is dope as hell, and I am freaking ECSTATIC.

That's all I'm at liberty to say.

He never spoke much of his country, and never spoke arabic with his children (though he would speak it with his siblings).

I'd like to learn some day.

My grandfather was born in Aleppo. We never spoke much about it.

The two things I recall he told me were seeing the mount where christ was crucified, and the misery they lived after the war.

He told me of being a kid, sent out with gold to search for bread, and being able to buy only scraps.

He left soon after for Venezuela.
