@SyntaxError @McPete88 depends on how they are made :) usually, these knockoff ones don't have a solid central pivot point and they are annoying. But generally, NES pads work better than Master System ones in my experience. And some of the knockoff ones are actually phenomenal! The Retron Cadet controllers are really outstanding!

This totally legit non knock off 'Gamestation 5' just arrived from China... probably as close to a real PS5 AS I'm likely to get 😂
Pretty much a Nes emulator in a cheap vaguely PS5 shaped shell...I'm loving it though 😎

@SyntaxError @McPete88 heh. Nope 😄 I tend not to buy the Famiclones that look like modern consoles. But if I found a Hello Kitty or even Barbie themed one I’m in!! I hope someone does a pink Barbie ones because of the movie 😄

Many years ago I tried to draw some flags with Atari Artist and Koala Micro Illustrator software with the Atari Touch Tablet and Koala graphics pads. I had fun, but an artist I am not. #Atari

@gamingonlinux Xbox seems lag behind Sony significantly, in terms of userbase, I wonder if this will have an effect with more people opting for the American console if the acquisition of Activision Blizzard ends up making Microsoft's GamePass a more tempting option than it currently is.

Overall though, further consolidation is probably bad for consumers on the longer term.

@gamingonlinux I'm divided about not counting ChromeOS with Linux.

On the hand, I could argue that this is unfair and misleading, because ChromeOS is essentially a Linux distribution with some proprietary components.

On the other hand, it can also be argued that most ChromeOS users are not necessarily aware or interested in the fact that their operating system is based on Linux, and that they have different needs and preferences from Linux users.

The Venn diagram of overlapping users is small I suspect. I'm a huge Crostini fan, but I don't think there are that many like me.

Tried #LibreOffice's dark mode yet? Our Design community added lots of improvements to it in LibreOffice 7.6 – so check it out (Tools > Options > View)... #foss #opensource

Look forward to my upcoming Midwest Emo album release called:

Please understand that this planet is much more powerful than we will ever be. In geohistoric scale, we are a flyspeck. Thinking that we would be able to extinguish the life on this planet is rather arrogant. No, not even with nukes. All we will accomplish is our own extinction.

I too often read "The planet is dying! 😱"

It is not. The planet is adapting to what we're doing. There will always be a rich ecosystem on our planet.

But that ecosystem will adapt to the point where we no longer have a place in it.

No, the planet is not dying. We are.

@KleineMaulwurf I agree with this toot. The planet is tough, it will be hard for us to accidentally destroy it fully. It’s not about saving the planet, it’s about consciously doing the right thing for both humanity and the other life we share the planet with.

Phrasing it “saving the planet” is disingenuous and in my opinion counterproductive. There’s enough scientific proof of the damage we are causing to have sensible conversations, there’s no need to resort to cheap drama.

Got this phone up and running, and it is every bit as satisfying as I had hoped to be able to dial using punch cards.
