@wiredfire I’m addicted to Lidl, so affordable and there’s a 15% chance I will walk out with a chainsaw or TIG welder!!!

So it’s:
- Mastodon / Fediverse for chatter & friendly folk but not necessarily people you know IRL

- Threads for following / complaining to brands or companies

- BlueSky for celebs and a few more people you know IRL

- Twitter for reading the holdouts but not engaging because everyone there is SO ANGRY

That about it for the state of microblogging..?

@wiredfire Aldi and Lidl work pretty hard at making you feel like scummy customer. 🤣

I'm constantly amazed that so many people have so much time and energy to spend maintaining social media accounts on so many platforms. Not a judgement, just a personal observation. Because I've been asked a lot: I'm unlikely to join Bluesky or Threads or any of the newfangled Birdsite or MetaFaceGram clones.

For me, it's less about whether these platforms are useful or benign or hostile or worthy than it is about maintaining boundaries and limits on my overall social media use and consumption. And I'm okay w/ the trade-offs of potentially limiting my reach if it ultimately means I have both more free time and more balance/sanity in my life.

I guess Ill reintroduce myself: Hello, S.R. Weaver here.

Im am an Ruby developer, Author, Poet, and Composer. I tried doing game design with RPG Maker VX but could never finish a game.

Ive written seven novels, one poetry collection, and some poetry.

Ive recently gotten back into music #composing, and aspire to play like Claude Debussy and Nobuo Uematsu.

Look forward to meeting people.

People are laughing at Twitter being down once again, but you try running a website with one hand and measuring your penis with the other.

@wiredfire complete madness! I'm going to have to make some lifestyle changes too :(

@OtherRetroMatt it's kind of technically correct, but to most intents and purposes rather meaningless because the "approximations" are so close.

Also, during the lifecycle of a system, there are changes. Sound chips sound a little different, graphics chips work a little differently, etc... At times there's more of a difference between generations of real hardware than between an emulator and real hardware.

Dear The Guardian. The Amiga 500 is not a "Console" 🤣

@wiredfire what I am trying to say here is that £500 is a HUGE luxury amount to spend extra a month.

@wiredfire £500 a month is an Audi Q5 lease payment... Just saying this for context.

@SyntaxError "console" 😬

Why?

I don't know much about the author of that article. I wonder if they are old enough to have been around during the Amiga days.
