Life is short. Hug a squirrel. Heck, kiss the squirrel. Now run! The squirrel is mad

The line between MacGyver and Wile E. Coyote is a very thin one.

Another privacy consideration with decentralized social networking (aka any random person can run a server) is that when said random person is arrested for a crime and their computers seized, the authorities get all your information on that server.

The privacy concerns of decentralization are rarely considered in the big tech is bad discourse but the situation is so much worse. Similar to decentralized email (a privacy joke) versus centralized encrypted messaging apps.

A quick edit.. how could I have missed Jan .. DOH!

We saw Noah Davis' Raspberry Pi Pico-powered chess-playing robot at Open Sauce in San Francisco and loved the ChatGPT twist he added to spice up the game.

Here's how he made it:

@gpowerf the team aspect is important. Many works are bigger than a single personality. As with Mr Tate yeah there’s going to be certain red lines but for the most part I find the tool is the important thing.

Retroarch has.. issues in its team but I’m absolutely still using that on my Retroid Pocket!

Ultimately there is always some shady person involved at some level. The devices we use, the energy that powers them, the manufacturing.. nothing is “clean” and it’s folly to prevent otherwise!

@wiredfire I don't anything about them, and until this Toot I didn't know their name. But largely I just use software or products if they are genuinely useful, and I haven't got much time for this person to said this at some point, or they did that.

I really really like a certain emulation-based retro computer that many people refuse to use. But in my view one crappy person among a whole team of people who developed this thing shouldn't be a reason why I don't use it. With that level of scrutiny, we would end up not using sooooooo many valuable products and software.

Let;s be honest here, GNU (which lots and lots of people use) is not exactly squeaky clean!

There are limits though, I'd not use an Andrew Tate browser. That's just a straight NO!

When an app asks for permissions, the OS should not only let you answer yes or no. Every category should havev a "yes, but feed the app fake data" option.

Want my contacts for no reason? Have these generated fake ones! Wanna listen to my microphone? Here's random ambiance sounds! Location? I'm on a tiny 5x5m island!

Hell yeah! Put it all in your databases!

Actively sabotaging and punishing services wins over boycotts any day.

@nickpiggott Back from an era where spacious and practical French cars were a thing 👍

@ThePJNinja it is very very different to Splitgate. It’s a hero shooter, but it’s got a cool style and it’s very hectic and fun.

@ThePJNinja cool 👍 I jump in very occasionally. Mostly playing at the moment.
