@gpowerf
I've been doing the same thing. And luckily, I haven't had to do it a lot here.
I never really did this with Twitter.

I've taken this mentality over to Threads too now and my feed there is miles better than it used to be. Muting accounts obviously engagement farming has been so nice.

I *want* to stop Twitter entirely but people are still tweeting at me and tagging me in work tweets. And the other day the White House science people emailed to say that they tweeted my article anout their art/sci climate assessment thing so there I go again, retweeting it. Who are we even tweeting for? Everyone else who is trapped there for work? Certainly the shouty new blue ticks won’t like my article about climate art. (I posted it the other day. Can’t be bothered to find the link)

Thunderbird 115 is now available on Flathub!

It’s really the best Thunderbird has ever been, IMO, and it’s also the best method to install it for a lot of people (it’s an official Flatpak).

One of the things that I’ve done with Mastodon that’s different to how I’ve used other social media is muting and blocking at the first sign of attitude, rudeness, or general negativity in my timeline or notifications.

I’m treating my timeline like a nice garden and pruning weeds as soon as I see them.

I highly recommend it his approach.

Let's all go cray for PicoCray.

Derek Woodroffe made this impressive #RaspberryPi Pico cluster and you can read his version of events in the brand new issue of @HackSpacemag:

I keep hearing that #Mastodon is not likely to replace #Twitter. To that I say: so what?
I've been contributing to the #Linux desktop for the last 15 years not because it's likely to replace #Windows, but because providing people with free desktop is the right thing to do.
I use and support Mastodon not because it's likely to replace Twitter, but because it's a social network done right.

@sesivany people don't seem to understand this. Twitter and Windows aren't great, they are popular, but not great. People often assume that the more popular something is the better it is, but that's not true.

The effort to create and maintain something like Linux or Twitter is not about ultimately replacing those, but creating something better for those who want something better. That may not be the masses, but still, not everyone is OK with mediocrity.

@lutris absolutely preservation! And this is something I feel strongly about.

Videogames are an art form, and as such they need to be preserved. For comparison, we have various film archives all around the world to preserve film, but for games, we only have hobbyist dumping and sharing ROMs and ISOs as the core preservation effort.

Is using ROMs or ISOs of games no longer sold on systems no longer supported an act of preservation or an act of piracy?

@kellyn they are excellent things :) with Crostini and Android, they are really hugely useful!

@LordArse This is SOOOoooooooo cool! I would have sold a kidney as a child for this.

@solarisfire Maybe it's the type of gym, I used to go to a rusty old gym that had zero glamour and that was fine, but it closed and moved too far. So I joined a mainstream gym chain and it is awful!

Are people working out or hanging out? People watch videos on their phones, filming themselves, tripods in there sometimes! I really don't want to be in someone's live TikTok feed, or anything like that.

We've all seen the old Wild West signs reading "Leave your gun at the bar", I'm starting to think that gyms should become phone-free zones "Leave your phone at reception". There are too many people filming or looking at social media on machines now. Gyms have become truly obnoxious places.

I quit #Twitter a month ago and want to transition away from #Spotify & own music again instead. Yet some of my favourite tracks seem difficult if not impossible to find elsewhere. Is there I trick I am missing? Any tips welcome. Prime example #BurningSunshine by #Francys EP.

@reefbuoy indeed. A lot of Sega driving games were great then, I'm a big fan of 18 Wheeler and Ferrari F355 too.
