It may take up to 24hr to respond while I tune for the fediverse (CWs... visibility... tags vs mentions).

@leeleedee I think it's expected that some people will resist, I see it in other areas too.
FOSS isn't for everyone, there seems to be a distrust by some of anything that isn't a commercial endeavour.

So #introduction time.
I'm a software developer who started on the ZX Spectrum and ended up working at Microsoft, Netflix & GitHub on many cool things in the USA.
I'm interested in APIs, web design, domain modelling and while C# and .NET are my go-to I'm spending a lot of time these days on Typescript, Nuxt, Next.JS etc.
I also play games, hack on fonts and tinker a lot.
I have two wonderful children, an incredible wife and now reside back on the island of Guernsey.

Twitter's chaos sucks for Twitter employees, but in the long run it will be what ignites a fire under the decentralization of social media. It's a net positive.
If Elon had taken his training none of this would have happened.

@BrianLinuxing finally let me say that both management and tech roles should be rewarded handsomely. One role isn't more important than the other.
@BrianLinuxing essentially we are all different and competence in one area is not a sign that you will be competent in another. Managing people is complex and requires a different skill set than coding.
@BrianLinuxing thisi is also why many devs who wish to go into management should not go into management. And also why sometimes the dev who isn't the strogest dev is the most apt for the management role.

I've been pretty critical of Mastodon, but I strongly recommend jumping on there and trying to stay in contact with the people you know. The multiple servers thing is annoying, but it hasn't been a problem so far.
