Both Twitter and Mastodon are non-profits, but only one of them is intentionally so.
I think Lex has just gone bankrupt.
Lex is a computer scientist and AI guy looking to focus on "great engineering".
Twitter's current challenges are not engineering challenges, they are human challenges! Twitter is failing as a community, its technology isn't at fault.
@Bahadir I get the phone first, then I see how skinny, slippery, and fragile it looks and I order a case.

OK, I followed people's advice and kept the Twitter account but locked it down. Lost the close to 5000 followers, and unfollowed everyone. Also deleted every single tweet... Done, nobody can have my name now and I'm done with that site.

LB: UK-based people should definitely look at @beasts for Web hosting. I've been with them for years and they're both excellent and affordable. Definite recommend.

Strategy to hasten the demise of Elonsite:
