“After several days of tests, I have been diagnosed with diffuse large B cell lymphoma, which is a serious but curable form of cancer. I am about to embark on a course of chemo-immunotherapy on an outpatient basis at Med Star Georgetown University Hospital and Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center. Prognosis for most people in my situation is excellent after four months of treatment.” — statement from Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-Maryland)

@Ouij that’s brave given the size of SUVs and trucks there 😄

@Ouij French cars are cool, they unfairly get a bad rap. People just don’t get them. Many years ago I had a Citroen BX, I loved it!

@Ouij lol. Those are cool. I wish kids could drive them here in the UK. I’d buy my kids one 👍

@Ouij for sure the infrastructure needs changing in most countries. FWIW, I don’t have an EV either. I drive a diesel truck… but I’d have an EV truck in a heartbeat if the infra supported it.

@Ouij But the nice thing about a normal everyday V8 car was the effortless feeling of all that low down torque, and EVs have that and more. EV is the way to go, they are nicer and more common sense to make a car. No noise, all that torque, no smell, etc… environmental issues aside, EVs are nicer.

@Ouij one great thing about high powered EVs in general is that they have phenomenal drivetrains. All that low down torque is V8 beating. Why were V8s nice? Not really because the performance, even a little 4 pot could perform great.

Tesla did it’s job, it pushed the world towards EVs and got people to believe that EVs don’t have to be super boring crap boxes. But in a world with Porsche Taycans, Hyundai Ioniq 5s, and F-150 Lightnings who needs a badly built, frumpy looking Model 3 or a vapourware Cybertruck?

When people sound incredulous about Tesla dying remember that history is littered with dead automotive brands.

Building cars is essentially dumb! The margins are tiny and the hopes of success without an experienced pair of car industry hands at the helm are near zero… I don’t believe that Tesla will go bust, it is too valuable and recognisable a brand name despite recent issues. I do however believe that Tesla will be acquired by either an American tech company or a Chinese automaker.

Twitter idiocy

I have to admit I can be childish. An out of place response like this is so utterly surreal and unwarranted that it does make me laugh.

But shouldn’t this guy be trying to save his legacy and fortune? He’s just hurting himself now and it is getting pathetic to watch.

@darth @jq I wish Valve would make an affordable Steam box, like an Xbox Series S running SteamOS.

@automatedtester I guess over time Nintendo has tried to place themselves at the prime end of the market. They see themselves as the Apple, or even Rolex of gaming… thus the Nintendo store reflects this “luxury” view.

Absolutely the most important impact the Steam Deck has had and continues to have is basically forcing AAA studios to compile games to run natively on Linux. If nothing else, that's it.

As a full time, no apologies, zero Apple or Microsoft products in my house kind of guy, I am utterly smitten by this development trend.

I don't own a deck and not sure when I will. But my mantra is "if it doesn't run on Linux, I guess I can live without it" and the concept of FOSS-FIRST is really lovely to me.

@mardor @mastodonusercount he has been way more quiet since people rejected him as Twitter CEO. If he had never run that poll Mastodon would have 9 million users by now.
