Today #Mastodon hit 7,000,000 accounts.

So #introduction time.

I'm a software developer who started on the ZX Spectrum and ended up working at Microsoft, Netflix & GitHub on many cool things in the USA.

I'm interested in APIs, web design, domain modelling and while C# and .NET are my go-to I'm spending a lot of time these days on Typescript, Nuxt, Next.JS etc.

I also play games, hack on fonts and tinker a lot.

I have two wonderful children, an incredible wife and now reside back on the island of Guernsey.

Watch maker Casio has announced that the Super Mario Bros themed G-SHOCK watch is now available for purchase. #SuperMarioBros https://gamesense.co/game/super-mario-bros./news/discuss/casio-s-official-super-mario-bros-watch-is-now-available-for/

It is profoundly intellectually lazy and offensive to the soul to think that the sum total of human expression could ever be mediated by any single entity.

I built the foundations of Twitter with my bare hands and watched in awe and sadness as it grew into a cynical temple of ego.

I delight in its destruction. We're better off here.

Twitter's chaos sucks for Twitter employees, but in the long run it will be what ignites a fire under the decentralization of social media. It's a net positive.

Thinking I might curate my experience on mastodon much more tightly so that it can be something that's a positive in my life rather than it making me angry all the time like twitter

People grumbling that #Mastodon is slow at the moment... You just turned up with 1 million people in a tiny, rural village and you're complaining there's a queue to get into the only tearoom, which is run by gay pensioners Babs & Maureen as a retirement hobby on Mons-Weds. Relax!
#TwitterMigration

How does verification work here? In a fairly neat way. You use web sites that you have control of to verify your account, for instance here's my profile page - you do this by adding a rel tag to your account, see your profile configuration for more information #HintsAndTips

Holy crap, there are still people over on the birdsite that think this is part of some master plan and not absolute proof that Musk couldn't manage his way out of a wet paper bag.
