@kathygriffin Haha! Yeah, the Fediverse here is so much better, right?

Seems we are still in a minor surge right now.. just checked and current influx is about 2x the normal background rate...

Hey all. Been speaking to @futurewas8bit today and have decided to give this another go. Looks like I cant move to oldbytes yet so still on the main feed. But I am going to be here and no longer active on the Bird Site. It's just too toxic for me now.

There have been some excellent contenders put forward in the last couple of weeks, but I think today we can declare #SpaceKaren as the winner of all Musk nicknames.

Looking to rebuild the #RetroComputing list I built “over there”. Specifically, starting with #8bit #Acorn computer related accounts…

Really hoping someone sets up a UK railways server, I'd happily donate.

Short introduction:

I've moved here from 'the other place'. I'll toot in English and only on scientific topics, Literature and Arts.

Sparse toots, maybe once a week or so. This is kind of a billboard to showcase my research and hobbies, share stuff that interest me and be informed about other people's work.

Full professor of Earth Physics at UCLM, Toledo, Spain.

Gratuitous tech ranting.

I'm so tired of libraries, packages, sdks, frameworks, and open-sourced all-in-one miracle platforms.

I get it, try and save time. But you end up with a birds nest of code that most of which is unnecessary. This results in either giant server resource usage, or it's just plain slow.

Modern tools, and languages exist that make large application development easier too. I think a lot of developers get into a comfort zone with their dev cycle and it seems to daunting to get out.

Our hardware evolves, our environments evolve, why's it so hard project management, and clients to evolve?

If you know nothing about cars, you ask a mechanic to investigate, explain, and give you options. You don't just march up to a mechanic and say, "I don't like my engine, I read about this idiot that installed a turbine in his car, I want one". This happens when you separate front end and back end also. The project designers don't know the devs are capable of automating much of the application. They just sketch out an app with as many buttons as they see on other apps.

Let's move on to the security issue. Hackers develop tools for what? Commonly used code. If you're using what everyone else is using, you're an easy target.

If you're planning to build an application, consult with developers first. Give them lots of time to do it right. Be understanding. Be patient. Don't be afraid to trash an old app and start over. Your developers will deliver gold.

happy i chose qoto tbh, pretty friendly and nice here

I’m not surprised that Elon Musk has turned out to be an idiot in terms of handling people or running a business, but it is somewhat surprising that the banks that he owes so much money to haven’t stepped in or done anything?

Hey everyone. @vontheodore just landed on masto!

He's creating one if not the most charming NES graphics-using game i know, Orange Island.

Give him a follow!

Picture from Ted's game, for attention.

Will miss the #retrocomputing community on Twitter but many if not most people I followed there have made it over to Mastodon

As you may have noticed the bot is fully functional on Mastodon, its new home!

You can try it now by adding #BbcMicroBot to your BASIC toot.

It may take up to 24hr to respond while I tune for the fediverse (CWs... visibility... tags vs mentions).

Also video puts load on a community instance - so just use the 🚀 for a screenshot for now.

Decided to start a mastodon account. Those who follow me on twitter may request "proof of pet" to confirm it's the same Sarah. I will send a unique pic of my pet.
