Anyone out there do much modern-day BBSing? It's something I got (back) into a couple of years ago, and find it to be a great way to enjoy some of my vintage systems. (I typically login from them with help from a bit of bridge hardware.)

I've put together a resource page with some potentially useful links for those wanting to try out telnet BBSing on vintage system and new systems, alike.

@ohuu One of the reasons I started QOTO was to do open science.. i wish we could address some of those concerns. Best I can offer is the resources of our servers for you, always willing to add more.

It's such a quiet, stress-free existence I live on Mastodon. I genuinely haven't thought this much about my writing on social media since...well, ever 🤣

It’s good to see engagement and use growing here. It would be healthy to have a social platform free of the billionaire oligopoly and the corporate ad folks, don’t you think?

More this time specifying a smaller aperture and using HDR. Sure it is ugly, but HDR is an ugly technique anyway :) it did well!

PS: One tip I have is to specify the type of camera used and at least some of the settings.

In Duck Hunt the NES Zapper worked by blacking out screen & drawing white blocks around targets when you fire, for a couple frames. The diode in the Zapper detects the change in light intensity and tells the computer if it’s pointed at a lit target. #gamedev #retrogaming

Flying taxis are coming. And whilst I am sure that pricing will be such that they are not for the masses I'm supportive of anything that reduces vehicle and pedestrian congestion in big cities. One more mode of transport that's not on the roads and pavements is welcome.

Plus it is hella cool to think taxis could fly! bbc.co.uk/news/business-637097

French authorities declare the use of Microsoft Office and Google Docs illegal in schools and education markets, as they don’t follow GDPR and might disturb later competition by making students used to these proprietary solutions.

Sweet! This reminds me of something I did with my old PSP about 10 years ago. One time, I actually fully played through SpyFox on this thing. I didn't know about ScummVM back then.

3 years ago I volunteered to create a new edition of Ethan Winer’s 1990s BASIC programming book using LibreOffice (@libreoffice). Over the span of a year, with Ethan’s editorial input, I rebuilt the book layout from TXT sources in #LibreOffice , and recreated all diagrams from scratch using #FreeDOS, #InkScape and #GIMP. It turned out great!

Buck Up And Drive! is... a dumb car game. You do the flippies, the grindies and the bonkies in it. Yes.
