I’ve been looking out for ways Twitter is actually changing. And here’s a big one: clicking a link to a legitimate article in a Florida newspaper produces this warning I’ve ever seen before

Oh, the Irony: Climate Change-Related Catastrophes Put Green Energy Infrastructure in Peril

as renewable projects have increased in size, so a greater surface area has been exposed to these events. Most vulnerable are solar installations, with 80% of claims arising from external events such as flooding, hail and tornadoes

In retrospect, these two tweets may have been Elon's most visionary.

Another **excellent** old interview with a writer. This one is with Ray Bradbury. Very different from the Asimov interview I tweeted yesterday but very interesting in its own way.

"Masking mandates were linked with significantly reduced numbers of Covid cases in schools.

Infection rates were lower among masked students — even in Boston’s public schools, where many buildings are old and lack good ventilation systems, classrooms are crowded and students are more often from at-risk communities — than among unmasked students attending newer schools in communities like Cambridge and Newton."

McMaster University Medical Centre is diverting many urgent surgical pediatric patients to adult sites due to PICU, ED, and inpatient pressures on staff. Kids >16 and over 50 kg will be affected.

This is malpractice waiting to happen. Kids are not small adults. Peds surgery is a specialty for a reason. This is in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

Never thought Elon Musk would do so much for the adoption of a decentralised infrastructure…

Please Elon, can you buy Elsevier ?

My Apple Pencil stopped working for a few minutes today during a talk I was attending. Had to unpair and re-pair it. Made me realize how much I depend on it. Would be a disaster if it completely died during my lectures (I teach online). They are expensive but I am feeling an urge to buy a backup one.

Depose Putin, replace him with Musk. Russia collapses overnight. Problem solved.

The world is so dreadfully managed, one hardly knows to whom to complain.

choosing a Mastodon instance/server, special heads-up for mastodon.social users

@herid Qoto is very unlikely to go block mastodon.social, as we maintain a largely no-block stance. We believe that the users have all the tools at their disposal to mute/block bad actors.

But yes, we cannot speak for other instances, and we largely disagree with the more strict ones.
