Support for Scottish independence reportedly hits a record level of 58%.
How to turn that into action when the biggest of the pro-independence parties is losing electoral ground? There are popular majorities for many things that will likely never see the light of day.
@flup Oh dear, maybe I should check the provenance of that National screenshot posted today.
@hesgen yeah, I’m pretty sure that isn’t recent. Hence Sturgeon in a mask below the number.
@flup Well, I carry masks in my satchel still, and use them frequently.
@hesgen fair, but it looks anachronistic, especially with Sturgeon. I’ve seen that screenshot pop up a few times in the last couple of days but can’t find anything newer than October 2020 with that polling figure.
@hesgen This is from three years ago. The fact that Nicola Sturgeon is in the picture is the give-away. Support now is before 50%.
@BarneyDellar @hesgen ish. According to What Scotland Thinks, the last two polls were:
26 Nov Ipsos for STV: 54% #Yes 46% No;
27 Nov Redfield for unknown customer: 49% Yes 51% No.
So, OK, the actual most recent result is 49% Yes; but it's by a polling company you've never heard of for a customer they won't name; and it's only one day after Ipsos, a company we've all heard of, for a public broadcaster, measured 54%.
Which do you trust?
@hesgen wasn’t that in October 2020?
