"‘We’re out of step’: how post-Brexit UK is drifting from EU standards"
Same standards as the EU, but a whole new testing regime with associated bureaucracy, and crippling additional costs.
@hesgen But you do not have the same standards as the EU any more.
E.g. my new monitor, has a different electricity usage shown on the EU sticker versus the UK sticker, despite that the stickers look very similar. 37kWh UK versus 40kWh EU per 1000h
The point is, the UK has roughly the same standards (there are other reasons, e.g. when goods based on the 27 MS standards are legal, 2020 the UK standard stopped being an EU standard.) the EU had in 2020, and then it started to diverge.
@yacc143 The electron was theorised and discovered by Englishmen, dontchaknow.
@hesgen Jokes aside,
the EEA is sometimes "memed" as a fax democracy, as the EEA countries basically have to legislate what Brussels decide.
BUT at least the rules are basically clear, and figuratively speaking, they get the fax as a help.
HMG does not want to follow Brussels lead, even where it would make sense, and they don't get the cheat sheets from Brussels either.
@hesgen Sure, but the energy label is yet another requirement.
And it looks, at least to me that dear HMG did not apply the newest updates coming out of Brussels, thus e.g. my new Lenovo monitor comes with to energy use labels, one for the EU and one for the UK.
And funnily, on this side of the Channel, but also in Ireland, it uses about 8% more electricity.
Guess you have the world's best electrons too?
