@hesgen I'm not sure anyone has gone from such a high estimation in my mind to such a low one. His was a pretty tragic decline to observe.

If there's an afterlife, I'm sure he and Kissinger will have much to talk about.

@rhys @hesgen See also Robert Fisk and Craig Murray. On the liberal left, Johann Hari also destroyed his own reputation by plagiarising, inventing, and attacking people using online sockpuppets but he has somehow been rehabilitated.

@mattjhodgkinson @hesgen The Hari rehabilitation baffles me. He went from being outed as a plagiarist to writing recklessly dangerous books on subjects he has no understanding of to much aplomb from his pals in the industry.

@rhys @mattjhodgkinson

It doesn't baffle me. Hari brown-nosed his way to the top, and will have earned pals' loyalty in one way or another. I've seen seen a number of similar examples in journalism, and before that academic science.

@rhys @hesgen What exactly are you referring to? The last two parents in this obituary regarding his story for Putin? Or is there more? https://www.bbc.com/news/world-australia-67853392
