Going by their media interviews, the internal Labour party contest to be the next Welsh premier is between the only gay in the village and the sole black man in Cardiff. The country's voters won't be impressed.
@Shobeck Because, for the most part, they won't give a toss about their national leader's ethnicity or sexual orientation.
@hesgen sorry, I still don't understand your original post. You suggest that the electorate won't like having to choose between someone who's gay or someone who's black.
Is that what you wanted to convey?
@Shobeck No. The issue here is the identity politics of politicians and campaign focus on such, when the issues of concern to Welsh voters are somewhat more mundane.
@hesgen so you mean that the candidates themselves are stressing their sexuality/ethnicity?
Your post does not make that clear and suggests that you are making that emphasis rather than the candidates.
@Shobeck The candidates' own campaigns are largely about them, not Wales.
@hesgen why won't they be impressed? What am I missing?
