This incident is now front and centre in Spain with its foreign ministry assuring Spanish citizens that all accords between the EU and UK will be adhered to regarding residence status in the UK.

Whenever any journalist interviews any government minister explaining how caring they are by working so jolly hard on arranging compensation for all the postmasters and postmistresses caught up in the #Horizon scandal, their first question should always be:
"Minister, why has it taken you 14 years to get round to doing this?"
"Post Office firm Fujitsu has major £19m Government contract renewed"
Fujitsu flood helpline: "Good morning. How can I help you today?"
Flood victim: "My house has flooded and I never received a flood warning from you."
Fujitsu: "I'm sorry to hear that. No other customers have reported flooding due to adverse weather. Are you sure you didn't leave the bath tap running?"

I see that, following Ed Davey, former LibDem cabinet minister Vince Cable is pleading ignorance of the Post Office Horizon scandal. He claims the issue did not receive sufficient media coverage for it to register on the political agenda.
That is complete bollocks. Private Eye for one was banging the drum continuously for the sub-postmasters, and did a huge amount of investigative journalism throughout. We are talking here of an illustrious organ read by pretty much everyone in the English political establishment. Call it the Oh-fuck-am-I-in-it-this-week? effect.
