@KimSJ Is it what voters want to hear? That is not a rhetorical question. The thing about vacuous words from politicians is that they can put people off engaging with politics.

@KimSJ I would like Starmer to have explained exactly what he would do, and dispensed with the world leadership nonsense. It's vacuous, and simply echoes Sunak.

The migration of my account from @hesgen@scicomm.xyz appears to have left 105 followers stuck there, almost off of whom are on mastodonapp.uk, though there are several other domains.

Any idea what the problem could be?

@KimSJ Because it's a vacuous statement that reeks of English exceptionalism.

The cherry on top of the shit sundae that is this climate denier president of the #cop28, is that his comment about "No science" backing up the need to phase out fossil fuels was while he spoke over (or mansplained) the actual guests in a talk called SHE CHANGES CLIMATE, a women-only panel about female perspectives on climate change.

He also topped it off by saying "I'm the man in charge".

The metaphor of ignorant toxic patriarchal capitalism would be too on the nose for fiction. But it's real

Image shows an old Twitter exchange. After a rant from a racist sockpuppet pretending to be Irish and outraged that immigrants probably don't speak Irish, the sock puppet is challenged to post something of his own on Irish.
The sock replies "Uimh."

What happened?
There isn't an Irish word for "No", but the sock didn't know that. He asked Google Translate for the Irish for "No." The software guesses he meant the abbreviation of "Number", which is "Uimh"

We do see the open goal, and are exploiting it. The problem is that our resources will not stretch to more than four target seats in the next election. It is an enormous amount of work for party with no corporate funding, and a media obsessed with the Tweedledum and Tweedledee of English politics, and its FPTP electoral system. That said, our local and regional election results are phenomenal.

Oh look, a squirrel!

As distractions go, this government PR is absolute genius.
