If there's one thing I say all the time it's how much I love capitalism and the innovation it breeds

"Rosie Duffield: Allegations of antisemitism and transphobia dropped"

An extraordinary decision given the evidence against Duffield, and historical record on trans folk in Nazi Germany. I can only surmise that Labour is more concerned about the marginal seat of Canterbury.

"Google Chrome starts blocking data tracking cookies"

The advertising industry spox quoted in this piece is right that the new cookie blocking feature in Chrome is designed to benefit Google alone.

If web users value their online privacy, they should choose for themselves what level of tracking and advertising is acceptable. This requires only a modest attention to detail, with the use of browsers such as Firefox that allow users to install configurable add-ons.

DOI: I use Firefox with the uBlock Origin add-on, which in my case is set to allow some adverts, but blocks all manner of annoyances such as third-party cookies, popups, intrusive banners, widgets, newsletter sign-up boxes, social media bollocks, everything Facebook,...

Petition: "Strip Paula Vennells of her CBE"

Not only that, it reflects badly on the Church of England that this priest has not been defrocked.

I hate the stupid "draft me an email" 'use case' that Microsoft, Google, OpenAI etc keep parroting over and over again. Draft me an email about what, motherfucker? To whom? With what tone? What information do you want to convey? How do you want to sign it? If you provide all of this *necessary* information to the LLM, you already wrote the goddamn email. The fact that these companies keep highlighting the same 3 or 4 nonexistent use cases is proof that this is all useless garbage. Fucking christ

So the next time you hear that old argument about how retiring their nukes would mean an increase in Germany's coal consumption... remember this chart. That was wrong. In 2023, German electricity generation from lignite actually fell to the level of 1965. (chart by

Donald Trump might win in 2024 because young voters are upset with Joe Biden

I am encountering more people “in the real world” who are vehemently against the GOP policies, but are upset with Joe Biden because of (insert list).

If Joe Biden did not fulfill ANY of his political promises, I would still pick him over Trump. You DO NOT want an authoritarian as President. EVER‼️

👉🏾 Opinion: If the alternative is Trump, why are young voters deserting Biden? latimes.com/opinion/story/2024

"Big five oil companies to reward shareholders with record payouts"

Economist Dieter Helm, quoted at the end of this article, has ig right. Such behaviour is only to be expected of an industry whose days are numbered.
