"A classroom without walls: New Zealand’s nature schools emphasise mud over maths"
Maths has real value, but mud is surely more so. At least at such an early age.

...martyrs for humanity. May your memories be a blessing.
"World will look back at 2023 as year humanity exposed its inability to tackle climate crisis, scientists say"
Unwillingness, not inability.
My voters are feckless chavs, insinuates Bury North's soon-to-be-ex-MP James Daly (majority: 105).
James Joyce published his first novel, A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man #OTD in 1916.
Joyce had spent nearly 10 years in Trieste trying to get his fiction published when, near the end of 1913, he learned that both of the books he had written would be published. Dubliners came out the following year (1914), and A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man was published on this day in 1916.
A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man is available at PG:

"‘We’re out of step’: how post-Brexit UK is drifting from EU standards"
Same standards as the EU, but a whole new testing regime with associated bureaucracy, and crippling additional costs.

John Cleese being rather clever is a lovely illustration of how very many people are as thick as shit.

No inheritance tax, and a free owl for every hardworking Brexitanian. Yay, Tories!
As folks gather at the birthplace of Wikileaks #37c3, I wonder who will raise the alarm that #DDoSecrets needs donations to continue? https://donorbox.org/ddosecrets-five-years-later Wikileaks hasn't published a leak since 2019, while DDoSecrets has published millions of documents. But the Germans like to pretend history ended when Julian got arrested. The leaks didn't stop, it's just the funding for the leaks kept going to the bloated ancestor, instead of going to the active publisher. Who will archive and publish leaks when #DDoSecrets runs out of funding? Unclear, but don't expect to see anything new from WL.
