"Metric measurement rules to stay after Brexit review"
Or, Brexit proceeds at furlongs per fortnight.
Support for Scottish independence reportedly hits a record level of 58%.

The human brain is the most complex organ that we know of in the entire universe, and as far as we can tell is unique in the history of life on Earth in its extraordinary ability to ignore reality in favour of comforting, self-serving falsehoods.

Scottish scientist Mary Somerville was born #OTD in 1780.
During her long life, she occupied an important place in the physical sciences. Her books brought readers up to date with subjects ranging from astronomy & anthropology to microscopy & geology. She introduced the English-speaking world to Laplace’s celestial mechanics, wrote an outstanding survey of physical geography, & elucidated the common bonds between the sciences @ a time when they were being carved up into distinct disciplines. 1/

Today we celebrate the birth of Sir Isaac Newton. Without his invention of calculus we would have no way to stop people who are bad at math from becoming engineers.
