#OnThisDay, 12 Feb 1983, around 200-300 women protested the Law of Evidence in Lahore. The law effectively made women’s testimonies worth half that of men’s.

The police used tear-gas and batons before arresting 50 of the protestors. The day is now Pakistan's Women's Day. #WomenInHistory

In 2016 Trump invited Russia to hack his opponent’s emails. In 2024, he invited Russia to do “whatever they hell they want" in Europe. Trump is a dangerous stooge for Putin. He shouldn’t be let anywhere near the Oval Office again.

UK Politics

This is such a huge fuck-up.

We should be extirpating people with such views and such susceptibility to propaganda from our party, not helping elect them.

This guy shouldn't be anywhere close to Parliament — yet we can't replace his selection so near his election. Now he'll run without support, win thanks to the party's electoral position, then immediately lose the whip.

One more reason for a #GeneralElection ASAP.

"Canada declares Flipper Zero public enemy No. 1 in car-theft crackdown"

Justin Trudeau is about as smart as his socks. To eradicate radio-frequency hacking one would need to ban electromagnetic radiation in total. The universe would say no.

As a radio scientist and engineer, I could intercept car door key codes using a relatively simple electronic device of my own construction. Any licensed radio ham can do it, should they choose.

As it happens, a Flipper Zero cannot be used to hack modern RF security systems. This requires a more sophisticated tool such a HackRF.

New from 404 Media: a woman is bringing a class action lawsuit against massive sex toy company Adam and Eve for sharing information about her sex toy searches with Google, including what she added to her cart (“Pink Jelly Slim Dildo”) 404media.co/woman-sues-sex-toy

With an anti-Israel conspiranutter standing for Labour, a (party-disowned) anti-Arab for the Greens, and the former local Labour MP for Reform UK, will the Indefatigable and Gorgeous George Galloway be elected as the Member of Parliament for Rochdale?

One hour of Tromsø nordlys from this evening, reduced to 23 seconds.

One of the reasons I love Tromsø is because even a little "level 2" aurora event is worth staying up late for :)

That and very cool cabins on the edge of a fjord with views of the night sky. Love it up here.

The Bendix CADC is an analog computer used by fighter planes in the 1950s. It computed airspeed, Mach number, and other important parameters. I reverse-engineered how it performed these calculations with tiny gears, differentials, and cams. 1/12

This 1,700-year-old blue glass bowl, a little more than 8 inches in diameter, was found buried next to a woman at the center of a cemetery at the Roman settlement of Emona in present-day Ljubljana in Slovenia. Its Greek inscription reads: "Drink to live forever, for many years!"

The vessel is decorated on the outside with grapes, and vine leafs and tendrils.

Journalists always approach their crisis asking: 'What can we do to get more people to come to the news we always gave them?' Ask instead: 'Why have they left? What are we doing wrong? How must we change?' But no.
