Wow, time flies! Today was the Mount Pisgah Mushroom Festival again! One of my favorite events in the year here in Eugene, OR. We had Mushroom soup and bought some fresh picked Mushrooms to cook later. A new display that I did not see in the past years was the mushroom dyes! I had no idea that one could dye fabric with such vibrant colors using mushrooms! I now want a mushroom dyed wool hat for the winter! ;) (do they match pantone? :P) #mushroom #mushrooms #festival #pnw #oregon #wool #natural #color
There was also a "scare crow" competition displaying the different "scare crows" that people made. I have to say, the quality this year was really high. I really enjoyed the creations people submitted! I think my favorite one is "The Cat Witch" because it made me giggle the most. :D #scarecrow #halloween #spoopy #display
Last but not least. The whole event is happening at the Mount Pisgah Arboretum. A beautiful nature park near Eugene. As it is common here in the Pacific North West the trees are covered in lichen (a complex life form that is a symbiotic partnership of two separate organisms, a fungus and an algae). It makes for a very pretty display matching the season! :) And of course the festival has a dedicated table talking about lichen. See you in 2023 mushroom festival it was great! :D #mushrooms #pnw
