I doubt we'll see any of The Powers That Be™ (eg US gov't) care about #space exploration until we suddenly have headlines like "China announces plan to construct #moon base before everyone else" or "russia soon to build space station military complex" (with "leaks" of alpha-phase blueprints including giant cannons capable of firing upon #Earth ). ONLY until that happens will we likely see the rest of the world's superpowers pull up their sleeves and go "OH YEAH, WE'LL SEE ABOUT THAT!!" and once again we have an international pissing contest -- because competition is good for business, even if that business is finally getting the human race off this lousy rock-ball!
