One of the worst things of working on project-based jobs is when a deadline approaches and there’s a lot to be done. Science is never a 9-5 job, but once there’s a publication/grant coming, it becomes a “as much as you can work without passing out” job.

@trinsec I, after many years, started to watch the series a few weeks ago. I can’t believe I postponed it so long, it’s really good! It’s also great to be able to watch a show that’s finished and I don’t need to wait years for a new season.

I finished today the boardgame Legends of Sleepy Hollow. Overall it was interesting but the game got a bit boring towards the end and I felt like I was finishing it for the sake of completing it. It wasn’t hard, but it made me think. I guess that’s enough to entertain, but I would have liked more.

Zelda’s release is tomorrow. Breath of the wild was a fantastic journey and I can’t wait to explore what this new visit to Hyrule has to offer. So far everything I’ve seen and read just gets me more excited for it. Hopefully my copy arrives timely tomorrow on launch day! 🎮

@simonbs the whole new MacOS “system settings” (ugh) seems designed by a monkey on drugs jumping on a mechanical keyboard. I’m sorry for the poor Apple engineers that were tasked with this, and I wonder in which conditions they had to rush-code a whole new system preferences app that is complex enough for MacOS and as similar as possible to iOS.

I finally bit the bullet and bought Bike outliner today. I love outlining ideas. Although I use Obsidian for most of my writing, I prefer a separate outlining app. Bike has the perfect balance of simplicity and advanced features (lots of automation), it looks gorgeous and the writing is so smooth!

@notjonathon @waciuk @pluralistic La Honda is beautiful. I love the drive through the mountains and down to the coast. It’s still a small little community dispersed in the forest. Sand Hill, on the other hand, is a series of fancy-looking parking lots, eye-catching villa-offices and glass and metal 4-floor offices. Trying to impress and attract newly graduated Stanford business school entrepreneurs.

@waciuk @pluralistic I love that I know most places in the book and have been to several. I pass by Sand Hill road every day on my way to work. Lots of VC offices there for sure. If I get to pass by one of the locations some day I’ll remember this toot and will send you a pic.
