I found a caterpillar in a carton, when changing the food, that had begun to turn the shade of green they do after they hang, prior to turning into a chrysalis. So I carefully laid the stalk it was on across the top of a glass, where it could be safe and safely observed.

The next night, before heading to bed, I discovered the hanging caterpillar in the final stage of transformation into a chrysalis.

I moved the glass to where I could more easily photograph the chrysalis and took a movie of it.

@SmilingTexan Art is important in life, but the term STEM is not about iterating the things that are important in life. It is about closely related disciplines that form a single unifying category. must know all 4 to do any of those four. It is quite impossible to be a scientist without knowing math, or an engineer without knowing the science behind what you build. While I might agree you will be a less capable scientist if you have never studied art you are still more than capable of doing science regardless.

QOTO is a community exclusively for professionals, students, and enthusiasts of STEM. While I would love to think some of (and I hope many of) our members do some form of art as a hobby it would be counter intuitive to allow artists in who do not otherwise have a stem background.

What are of STEM do you engage with?

The idea is called simultaneity. What that means is that two events that appear simultaneously to one observer (in one frame of reference) is not necessarily simultaneous in another frame of reference.

In this case the two events are the closing and re-opening of each of the barn doors. While that occurs simultaneously from the perspective of the barn and the person doing it, from the perspective of the ship they are not. So while the ship's perspective looks like it cant fit into the barn, and in reality it cant fit in the barn from its perspective, it doesnt have to. From the ships perspective the doors are never closed at the same time. one door closes, then opens, then the other door closes and opens, all at the right time to ensure the ship passes through without crashing through a door.

So while from the ships perspective the ship was never enclosed (both doors shut with it inside) in the too-small-to-fit barn, from the barns perspective where it is more than big enough the ship was, in fact, enclosed inside for a moment.
