@rysiek In the UK there has been decades of people believing that CCTV keeps people safe. There's a kind of cultural belief in benevolent authority, bolstered by the BBC and tabloid newspapers. In times past people campaigned to have more CCTV installed in public places, and there has even been "talking CCTV" where government officials literally bark orders at people in the street.

Also there is the drip feed effect of gradually more detailed surveillance over time. If this type of technology had turned up a couple of decades ago then there would have been much more public opposition.

1/ If you don’t follow Brexit every day, here’s some advice. Let go of any illusions that this drama is about trade protocols, residency rights or the status of the Irish border. Brexit is the story of a proud former imperial power undergoing a mid-life crisis

An Advanced SWR meter I built about a month ago. It calculates phase shift so can compute a complex impedance and complex SWR, something most meters cant do. Schematics included.

Any advice on dealing with climate despair? 'cause it looks like we're all kinda doomed. I found some articles with headlines about not giving up, but they all end with vague insistences that governments and corporations need to change course and we all know they're not going to.

It’s a sad reality: a troubling trend sees a 97% decline in monarch butterflies. “For every little thing that changes there’s not just one consequence – it’s a whole chain reaction.” theguardian.com/us-news/2018/d?
