Today's #Covid19UK figures show the expected rebound after the weekend, though it has to be said this is lower than I anticipated - which is good news. As can be seen from the figures in red in the data, the weekly average percentage increase is down to 3.2%, and as an average it's likely to reflect a real trend (as opposed to a single piece of data which can be a blip).
There's still a long way to go yet though.

Families Of NHS And Social Care Workers Who Die Of Covid-19 To Get £60k Payout | HuffPost UK

I am not a particular litigious person, but in this instance I very much hope there will be a tsunami of litigation (both individually and through class action) against the UK and US governments that seek punitive damages for dereliction of duty of care. £60,000 pay offs to NHS and social care staff in the UK are absolutely insulting. Victims should accept such payments for immediate assistance, but without any prejudice regarding future legal action.

In a very similar way to the #Covid19Cymru figures, but on a larger scale, the #Covid19UK data for today show deaths at their lowest since 30th March. That too was a weekend blip though, so expect a rebound tomorrow. Nonetheless, it is relatively good news. The average rate of increase over the past week is down to 3.6% (cf Italy 3.1% at the corresponding time - UK is still doing worse).

"The pandemic will cause more economic damage than we can now imagine. To think that you could then add to this extraordinary situation a very disorderly exit, to me is not imaginable." - theguardian.com/politics/2020/ well, it is if you are a #brexiter...

"Boris Johnson says 'public health is the priority'" - theguardian.com/politics/live/ if that were really true he would extended the #brexit transition. he won't, which shows it isn't.

Fade to 1906: San Francisco's Great Earthquake Blended with Today

Very cool project idea. Old B&W and modern colour fotos are combined.
It's fun to do in e.g. GIMP, but I've only ever done it with colour and BW versions of the same foto - just erase through one layer to the other.
