In HG Wells' "Men Like Gods" (1923) the Five Principles of Liberty which govern life in Utopia are:
* privacy
* free movement
* unlimited knowledge
* truthfulness
* free discussion

Written nearly 100 years ago for a fictional parallel universe, those principles should apply to our present day real world.

RT @AaronMesh
Oregon Gov. Kate Brown goes HAM: "The President is failing to lead this nation. Now he is deploying officers to patrol the streets of Portland in a blatant abuse of power. Trump is looking for a confrontation in Oregon in the hopes of winning political points in Ohio or Iowa."

Until a year or so ago, I don't think I'd ever seen the word "normalcy". Over the last few months I've seen its use increasing.
Is this to be the new normal, or will "normality" be restored?

There were zero deaths recorded once again today in the official #Covid19Cymru figures (total remains at 1545). There have been just 5 deaths in the past week, meaning that the 7-day average is now 0.71.
The main risk now I think is complacency, coupled with tourism (especially in rural areas).

@gemlog there are a lot of unanswered questions regarding immunity. A recent study in the Karolinska institute in Sweden suggested that T-cell immunity is much more widespread than IgG immunity. If that's the case, then we are measuring the wrong thing when we do antibody tests.

@gemlog And if T cell immunity from past Corona viruses protects (it's thought that SARS 1 survivors have adequate T cell immunity against Covid) then, with a number of recent common colds having been Corona type viruses, I do wonder if the 1-(1/R0) level for herd immunity might possibly be being reached in some places.
We just don't know though, because those were mild, few people would have reported them, and there's no easy test now.

a superintelligent alien may not understand what we call mathematics. the mathematical tools we use may be built-in to their brains/bodies so they don't need to externalize ideas like prime numbers
