#Ceredigion has 3 new cases, after recording none yesterday. These are all in the south of the county:

@anniemo71 I've always avoided anything with Zuck's fingerprints on it. So I've never had WhatsApp, and only used Facebook briefly when I was told I had to as part of a political campaign.
I'm noticing more and more people joining Signal. Coincidentally another of my contacts just popped up in there today.

Such rapid ups & downs in R as we have seen recently are a symptom of noisy data. Though it's striking how the last few days (see "recent" graph) line up nicely with the continuation of the 7-day average (green) line (which necessarily finishes 3 days before the current day).
Although positivity is up a little today, at 8.1%, it's normal for it to be higher on a Monday, and this is lower than previous Mondays, so the downward trend continues.

Although 16 deaths represents a small increase in the average, I said yesterday that "there's been such a dramatic fall this past week that I am half suspecting there might be a backlog somewhere". If this is the extent of it, then that's good. It seems likely the vaccine effect is cutting in now, which is also good news.
7-day average: 19.43 - UP 0.57

#Ceredigion recorded zero cases for the second time in the past few weeks (the first time was on 29/1). That's 24 consecutive days of numbers under 10.
7-day average: 2.43 - DOWN 0.71
In fact a huge continuous swathe of mid and west Wales has recorded no cases today.
Cancel Culture, Where Liberalism Goes to Die
Elites and their courtiers who trumpet their moral superiority by damning and silencing those who do not linguistically conform to politically correct speech are the new Jacobins.

Merci Bram pour le toot (pas partageable donc voilà).
@anniemo71 @davidoclubb I'm not quite sure how it works, it must be some setting I've tweaked. But when someone in my contacts joins, it knows and adds them. So obviously Signal needs permission to see your phone's contacts, but I'm not sure that's enough, as a friend of mine doesn't seem to get them automatically added, despite having the correct permissions for contacts.

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Today seems to have put us back on track with the downward trend in cases. Deaths significantly down, again. Positivity at a record low (since the last peak).
I think my guesses regarding the high number of cases yesterday were right; 2 things were likely at play.
1. We had a couple of days of lower than expected figures, and so yesterday was a bit of a catch-up;
1/5
2. More figures from Monday samples (normally higher after the weekend) came through yesterday than usual - last week Saturday saw the higher number.
Friday 5th: 399
Saturday 6th: 675
Friday 12th: 608
Saturday 13th: 400
So, today's 400 cases brings us back to an average around where I would have expected if you'd asked me 4 or 5 days ago, when trends looked more stable.
7-day average: 452 - DOWN 39 on yesterday's unexpectedly high figure. DOWN 47 on 4 days ago,
2/5
which in retrospect is the latest figure I trust for accuracy. And that rate of fall is about right.
R (estimate): 0.91 - UNCHANGED
I'm taking this to 4 decimal places today because 2 really does mask the movement due to rounding.
0.9050 - DOWN 0.0098 (yesterday was 0.9148).
So that's going back the right direction. A week or so ago I was saying that I thought the true R was probably 0.89, as it's been going up and down around that for a while. That's probably still about right.
