The new time for #Covid19Cymru figures is 12:00.
Today's stats are meaningless (as they pretty much admitted they would be), so not worth a graph.

The latest meaningful graphs are from Saturday (see my toot from then).

News in brief: Minister says Covid is 'not out of control' in Wales - Nation.Cymru nation.cymru/news/news-in-brie
"As the number of cases continues to accelerate in Wales, we would also advise people to consider their plans for Christmas from the perspective of what they ‘should’ do, rather than what they ‘can’ do, in order to protect their families and communities.”

RT @RBReich
America's billionaires could give everybody in the country a $3,000 stimulus check and still be richer than they were before the pandemic.

If that doesn't convince you we need a wealth tax, I don't know what will.

A year ago Johnson and his cabinet were elected for promising they had a deal with all the tricky bits sorted, and Johnson personally guaranteed that a catastrophic no deal would be averted.

Now he saysow no deal will be "wonderful for Britain" and we're going to have it in just twenty days yay!

@Science

So seems the latest wave of stupid on the internet is to claim that the deaths in 2020 were no more than in 2018, 2019 or other past years, which apparently means the coronavirus is a hoax or some such nonsense.

Nevermind the fact that there isn't an iota of truth anywhere in that nonsense. The number of deaths in 2020 is significantly higher than past years. In fact even though we only have data up to the beginning of december and 2 weeks of that is incomplete/delayed.. therefore we have about 6 weeks of data yet to be finalized. Despite that we are hundreds of thousands more deaths ahead of 2019 and 2018, by about 300,000 more so far. Hell the death rate is increased even if you **dont count** COVID by more than 1.2%...

Here is a crazy idea, instead of getting your knowledge base from random internet memes how about trying some research from time to time maybe? It isnt like its hard to find the real numbers.

Says alot when these COVID conspiracy idiots tell you your wrong and not even following the official data and make it a point to block you before you can even link to the official data that agrees with what was said.

I guess its a rush to stick your head in the sand before someone actually has a chance to provide real evidence that might challenge your dogma.

Today Wales passed the 100K in total number of confirmed #Covid19Cymru cases, with a record 2494 new cases.
7-day average: 1950 - UP 121

R (estimate): 1.27 - UP 0.07
This R value is also the same as the smoothed R (green line); that line - it's been within 0.02 of 1.27 now for 6 days, so I think that's where we're at.

There is the suggtestion that the lateral flow tests, which are easily available in many areas now, have affected the totals by detecting asymptomatic cases, or people who would not otherwise have got tested. These turn into recorded cases when they then go down the traditional testing route, and this might also explain the higher positivity that others have noted (people going for tests after a positive lateral flow are most probably going to test positive via PCR).

There were 31 new deaths recorded; the 7-day average is now 22.0 - UP 1.0.

There were 22 new cases in #Ceredigion. The 7-day average is now 19.29 - DOWN 1.42
There's no discernible downward trend yet though, but at least we haven't seen an increase for 2 successive days.

There will be no update tomorrow, according to Public Health Wales, due to some system maintenance.

#Google demonstrates once again, that you should probably own your own data, and certainly not leave it up to "free" services.

Storage is storage. One should not have to open a bin of photos every two years, unless you want someone to come into your home to throw it away. What does Google care if we look at something or not?

Use #Nextcloud to host your own storage, put things on a backup drive, burn CDS, use flash storage, etc for longterm storage in a private and secure way.

...and now my notebook just died. Won't turn on anymore, won't charge, won't even light up the battery indicator.

I think I should probably just crawl back into bed, this day is apparently not getting any better.

Many thanks to all who contributed to and publicised the recent Appeal on behalf of the Symi Music School.

Kyrios Steve writes:

"Dear all. I wanted to say a final thanks to everyone that has so generously given of their time, money, and ideas over the last few weeks. It’s been a roller-coaster ride. This fundraising site is now being closed as the Greek and UK bank accounts have between them more than 21000 euros. This amazing effort has surprised us all and now that we have Cobalt Music supporting the Symi Music School we can look forward to 2021. I will post updates on further developments after the next Committee meeting. We imagined it, and it happened! THANK YOU"
