Toot Redux (first published 30th November 2020)
Just in case it wasn't clear that P has completely lost his shit, he has also been mass-spamming my account for a good 30 minute now with hundreds of messages. doesn't really matter to me, easy enough to silence. though it does put his entire server at risk from a legal standpoint.. but that just shows how far gone he is.
But yea, the man is absolutely obsessed and lost it.
Vaccine cards... national registry of everyone vaccinated... get the fuck out of here are you serious, this is where this shit is headed:
https://www.cnn.com/2020/12/02/health/covid-19-vaccination-kit-record-card/index.html
I fucking knew it when they created the databases to track controlled substance prescriptions and violated our right to medical privacy this is where this shit was headed... yea I'm pissed.
Before I get into today's #Covid19Cymru analysis, a word of explanation about what I've done with the figures. The PHW dashbard shows that these figures are for 9am on 24th (not 25th), so it seems that it is merely the release of data that is delayed - and maybe tomorrow will contain 2 days' data at once. Therefore, I have recorded today's data release against 25th, not (as I would normally) against 26th. When there is a catch-up (hopefully tomorrow), I'll average it between the 2 days concerned
There were 2237 new cases reported in #Covid19Cymru to the 24 hours ending at 9am on Christmas Eve. This continues the downward trend in the average that the R rate would imply, and is good news. Lockdown is still unlikely to have a significant (if any) impact at this stage.
7-day average: 2591 - DOWN 80
R (estimate): 0/97 - DOWN 0.03

#Ceredigion reported 7 new cases. We now have a 7-day average which does not include the backlogged data of 17th: 21.29. That's exactly in line with the 14-day average I was using whilst that backlogged data was still in the calculation (on 24th, 14 day avg was 20.86). Maybe now that's fallen out, the media that reported the outbreak in Ceredigion will instead report the remarkable collapse in cases (when actually the average suggests a steadyish state - and I think might soon show a fall)?

@iankenway Yea same here, working...

Today's #Covid19Cymru headlines:
Deaths high
Cases low
R falls below 1
The latter is the best news of all, though we must bear in mind that this is only an estimate and is dependent on the reliability of data.
There were 2161 new cases reported today. That is a little lower than I would have expected, though it is possible that the effects of the latest lockdown are beginning to show through (but I wouldn't expect that for another couple of days yet).
7-day average: 2671 (DOWN 69)
1/3
R (estimate) 1.00 (to 4 decimal places, 0.9993)
Although I am slightly doubtful of the cases total today, this does fit the trend. Getting R down below 1 is excellent. It means daily cases are falling. It's where we need to be, and stay.
The bad news is deaths. But this is not unexpected - we've had very high case numbers; this is part of the price we pay for allowing that. I expect this upward trend to continue for ~2 weeks.
63 new deaths - total now 3263.
7-day average: 41.43 (UP 1.57)

I mentioned yesterday that I was doubtful of press reports of #Ceredigion (and in particular #Aberystwyth) being a hotspot. I still doubt that. Ceredigion has 19 new cases reported today.
7-day average: 25.43 (DOWN 4.71)
14-day average (probably a better guide): 20.86 (DOWN 0.14)
Aberystwyth north had 0 cases yesterday; Aberystwyth south 3. I don't have today's data yet. But that doesn't suggest an outbreak. I recommend Lowri Williams' web site for more detail.
