A few weeks back we got a new king bed. Didn't like any headboards anywhere. My wife liked the style of an ash sofa table I built recently, so I took the same approach building this headboard. Long top and bottom pieces are ash, the rest is red oak....all from our land. Did every step of the process from timber to finished piece. Stain is General Finishes Antique Cherry, matching all our other bedroom furniture. #woodworking
When I built my reverse osmosis for processing #maple sap, I got in the habit of writing the first run of each season on it. Yeah it's early... #maplesyrup

Why is it that you need 9 months of consistent training to begin to get into shape, and then 3 weeks off the bike because it's raining and you are back to square one?

Approaching a gallon of sap per tap on this first run of a very early start. I have not seen my trees take off like this so early. My north slope sugar maples aren't quite awake yet, but it looked like they're getting going when I pumped out the barrel this afternoon. Forecast is also looking good to keep going nicely for a while. Almost too warm in the middle of the month. #maplesyrup

Discovered during the week I was unable to access a Kindle book purchased in 2013. Reason? The order was “too old”, and refund issued to buy again. Which was pointless as the book is now more expensive than when I bought it.
Subsequently discovered 66(!!) other ebooks no longer available for download.
Currently 40 minutes in to a support chat with Amazon.
About to learn, I think, whether we purchase ebooks, or rent them…

Despite today being cold and it being early February, I think I'm going to jump on this forecast and get the trees tapped this weekend. The ground is not frozen under the blanket of snow, so I am going to guess the trees will run pretty well. If it gets cold again, oh well, stuff can sit while its cold with no harm done. #maplesyrup

It's the end of January. Now I start obsessing over the weather forecasts to decide when I should tap the #maple trees for making #maplesyrup. Last runs of tubing will go up this weekend.
It's still early, but the first couple weeks of Feb might be decent, then it might cool off for the rest of the month. I've made a lot of syrup tapping early, and with vacuum and check valve spiles, the trees will run until April...just not sure I want two full months of craziness.
Will have to just keep watching and take my best guess. This winter has been weird and overall warm. Don't want to go too late either.
Wake up and see the winter weather advisory has been upgraded to a winter storm warning. 6-10" of snow. Good, about time.
Had to rearrange the office today for a new bookshelf and Rosie had the best day ever. #catsofmastodon
The opening chapter of this book hits you like a 300 pound defensive lineman. A literary decleater. I'm not far in but I know parts of this story. I have watched it play out where I grew up (where the author lives).
