I wonder if the massive lockdown over Coronavirus will force employers to rethink their workforce policies? Perhaps allow for more flexibility in WFH? or go fully remote? Or they might even see that fully remote is the way to go and it's not so bad as they thought after all? 🤔

@freemo Oh that's odd. I searched for #cwc2019 and all I got was "0 people talking" with empty timelines. I did search for other variants like #worldcup2019, #CWC and so on. Where can I see some live activity stream?

I'm not talking about the 'federated timeline' view with some filters on. I wanted to try something through the mastodon API for a live feed on a single hashtag.

Would you know of anything like that?

@dch I haven't met Joe, but it was a pleasure to read his book "Programming Erlang". I think his enthusiasm rubbed off on many people in the Erlang community. It was quite evident in my conversations with Robert Virdig and his talks when he was in India. Joe was a great ambassador or even better, for Erlang, the same way that SPJ, Guido, Larry are for Haskell, Python and Perl, respectively. I wish I had met him :-(

May he remain happy, wherever he is.

This reads well, you should start cursing the sun for not pulling its weight enough. People up north, in the Scandinavian countries will curse the Sun a lot more (Sun shows up, but no warmth, light falling in at an angle).

@pcrock Yeah, I find that annoying too. It's just an app that *enables* people to communicate with each other. Why should it be a cause for exclusion, just because it's owned by Facebook?

So, what I have resorted to do is, I *still* have WhatsApp, with the minimum set of permissions I can grant:
* No Camera
* No GPS
* No Storage
* No Contacts

This means I cannot initiate conversations with people I want to talk to, but I can only continue from previous conversations (or they have to initiate them first). I'm perfectly fine with that - as in, I'm not itching to talk to them *only* over WhatsApp when I can do with alternative medium of communication just fine.

@Surasanji I just looked over the changelogs: https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/releases/tag/v2.7.0 and I'm pretty sure only developers can comprehend stuff from this ChangeLog. Has anyone managed to break this down for end-users and admins? 😆

@pcrock With E2E, I find the verification process to be a hassle and it sometimes gets it wrong - as in, same machine, *possibly* same session (not logged off, just closed browser and opened it again), still it asked me to reverify the keys. Not sure if this changed since I last checked, reverification meant that you had to do that for *all* keys assigned to your user ID. Or I might not be remembering them correctly - but I do remember the *hassle* part. 😆
