Wow. OpenAI's CEO Sam Altman was fired.

Well, I choose neither. Privacy is not a premium feature, but everyone's right.
This is also likely illegal.

@hacks4pancakes Yeah, I thought it might be more a matter of networking. Damn network effects! @Sempf
@hacks4pancakes I don't want to offer unsolicited advice (if for no other reason than I don't have any idea how to do what you do) so I'll only say that some of us here are willing to put our money where our mouth is in terms of supporting people who are getting off Twitter (via Patreon, Ko-fi, etc.). @bebna @Sempf
@hacks4pancakes I'm kind of shocked that you don't get traction, since your posts seem to be alternately insightful, informative, or hilarious. @Sempf

The union wants publicity about this for now.

Yet journalists continue to pour their work into that poisonous place, thereby directly supporting his business.
Shame won't change their minds, obviously. I'm at a loss to know what will.

I'm sad to discover that John Clauser is a climate crackpot and continuing the unfortunate tradition of physicists wading into subject areas they don't know much about, assuming they understand them, and making a fool of themselves.

Theoretical physicist by training (PhD in quantum open systems/quantum information), University lecturer for a bit, and currently paying the bills as an engineer working in optical communication (implementation) and quantum communication (concepts), though still pursuing a little science on the side. I'm interested in physics and math, of course, but I enjoy learning about really any area of science, philosophy, and many other academic areas as well. My biggest other interest is hiking and generally being out in nature.
