its quite depressing when you find an "old" tablet in your house from last year. You boot it up and it's so slow you can't install things from the Play Store. Even more depressing when its a $800 Samsung tablet. I swear these companies add garbage functionality just to say they did something. Makes their platforms useless.

I still have a Samsung tablet from 2014, 450€. Still works nicely. Wifi is not as fast as modern ones, but is not slower than it was. Main trouble is many apps can't be installed or updated anymore, but it's not a phone, so it is not so much trouble. Worrisome to hear more recent models are such kind of garbage. I will have to replace it eventually, hate to think I'm going to have to endure such trouble. Have you tried to reset it to factory settings? It revived mine 5 years ago. Disable all you don't really use and go slow installing things, works miracles. Avoid as much as possible any app that requires the run in background permission; they can make your device performance terrible even if you never use them.
