I'm wondering if 18 years ago before Domain Driven Design term was coined people are building applications close to business 🤔

Yeah, I’m ironic, but I don't like that some people try to sell #DDD as the only way to be focused on solving business cases.

What I like about DDD is embracing different shades of grey. And that’s a patchwork of various technique.

Seeing claims that you’re either do DDD or you’re not focused on business doesn’t help anyone. Also DDD community.

18 years ago most of business cases where solved by defining a database and a lot of windows, bridged with a huge amount of code made without any real architecture. It was messy, and still is (many of those applications are still alive and well).

It was terrible, and time made it even worse. DDD is not the end to all troubles, but helps a lot if you adapt it correctly to your bussiness case and tech.

The distinction between business and non business has been always blurry, anyway. DDD can be very helpful for mobile apps or games, too. And some ideas from game development can be very helpfull on the other side.

As always, it's a matter of finding the right tools for the matter at hand.
