@Lumpbucket another reason to disable JS by default I guess. it will get integrated to Firefox eventually
I don't see Firefox, Brave, Vivaldi and all the others integrating this. In fact, each time Google comes with this kind of "features", they strip them from the code they share with Google, and use that to promote themselves as more open, secure and private.
That would be the nuclear option. Seems unlikely, because it has no precedents, and it seems as a really huge risk for Google, since Youtube is accessed from many legacy or not easy updatable systems: Smart TVs, mobile apps, old phones Chrome doesn't support anymore...
Content creators and sites that embed Youtube videos would really hate it too.
It would be opening a door for rival platforms in a market where they have a monopoly. Very unwise.
