Of course we are not going to replace all planes, that's why I just said "replacing planes with trains AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE". High speed trains are better suited than planes for short flights (less than two hours); that's the reason the EU is banning short flights when high speed trains are available. And my experience is that those trains are more enjoyable, since you board them as you would board a bus (no security checkpoints or limitations here), they are less bumpy, never make you sick, are extremely punctual, and they always work (no suspended trains ever).

It's sad that the US seems unable to build high speed railways. Seems a perfect place for them.
