The nearer we get to zero carbon, the easier will be to get net zero, will not? Even if we fail, it is a worthy goal.
Moreover, all that is required for net zero will be needed if we want to clean the atmosphere, too.
So trying to get zero carbon and net zero are not mutually exclusive, they are complementary, in fact.
The point that started this thread is net zero should not by any means used as a excuse to not reduce emissions as much as possible. Mainly because people is already cheating with that. Also, because carbon capture is going to be much more expensive and damaging than reducing emissions, in the long run. If we are going to create huge carbon sinks to clean the air, that is going to be hard, the less we need, the better.
