La gente que juega y no le toca no suele querer hablar de ello, más allá de comprobar que a los demás tampoco les ha tocado 🙈

Twitter was a shithole before Elon Musk. Twitter is a shithole during Elon Musk. And Twitter will be shithole after Elon Musk.
The goal of the fediverse has not been (nor should it be) to recreate some version or other of a shithole.
It can be (and is) so much more.

Come to Spain, and you will get presents on January 6th, too!

You gave me an idea for my never finished, forgotten personal software projects... From now on, they are homemade deconstructed rustic projects. In a oniric, vaporous state. Yeah!
@taylorlorenz
Some instances allow quote posting, like Qoto.org.
There are many features that are server or even software (Mastodon is not the only one) dependent in the Fediverse. Some servers allow posts as long as 65,535 characters, for example.
Journalists will never stick around this app long term sadly unless it adds quote posting. We desperately need it to communicate effectively, build...

I see some AI people trying to justify the use of copyrighted images without explicit consent by copyright owner. I think these people should read a bit about IP law before making any claim. A nice start here: s that copyright images cannot be used without consent from copyright holder. Saying otherwise is a lie. I suggest you read a bit about IP law before disseminating false claims. A nice summary https://www.copyrightlaws.com/legally-using-images/
TL;DR One cannot use a copyrighted image without consent. Period.

Gorda estaba.

Yeah, as soon as SpaceX finishes conquering the whole galaxy. Maybe later.

"Siento bonito"?
In Spain we only say "Más vale pájaro en mano que ciento volando".
A nice way to display metadata, indeed.
The problem I am talking about is not bad people uploading images, is good people uploading data that can harm them if bad people have access to it.
That's why I think showing the metadata to the user as editable fields can help to solve it. If the uploader edits the fields, the metadata in the file would be overwritten with those edits; otherwise, it would remain unchanged. This way there would be no issues; you could even show a little map showing the geolocation data, and keep it instead of stripping it.
I totally agree on the importance of metadata in general, not only for images. There are a lot of possibilities for that kind of data for searching and cataloging, statistics, data visualizations...
@zeroexp @grammargirl
Beware: many people uses metadata fields for unintended uses, especially generic fields like Description.
But I agree with you, seems a waste not having the option to use that metadata.
I think the best approach would be when uploading, showing a form with all metadata fields, autofilled with the info in the file, so the user can see and edit it. That way security issues are avoided and you get a nice extra feature.

Can't imagine better training for a web developer than practicing finding the right strategy when it's really hard to.
Seems the job description.
@rem
Vaccines are, by definition, designed to make you immune. Diseases are 'designed' to fuck your body. I guess the main reason vaccines don't always get better immunity than the diseases is nobody would get a vaccine with the same 'side effects' as the disease, so there are limits in the quantity and quality of what they put in them.
Another reason is natural immunity is always updated with the current variant, vaccines never are fully updated. In the long term, both of them tend to get even.
@developit
They don't snore, either.
