@euklidiadas

@mastodonmigration

Mastodon is not good for advertising, for the same reasons Wikipedia or the Congress are not good for advertising. They should never be used for that.

And it is shameful when someone manages to promote his shit through them, writing his own article, getting a politician to endorse his business, or whatever.

Micro Focus is a main player in Cobol landscape. If the survey was answered by their clients, those numbers are to be expected. Besides, for any language is to be expected a growth in the number of lines in production; software projects are always raising their line count, so only a big decrease in the number of systems running Cobol would yield to a decreasing number of lines.

Remove COBOL is a very slow process. It can take decades for a big organization. And new lines of code must be written for the transition. And until the new systems are ready, you have to keep adding new features to the old ones.

Next headline: MySpace is growing, according to a global survey conducted by MySpace.

@Shine_McShine

Avoiding bundle sudden size growth and simplify tooling are the main reasons I avoid any CSS compilers.

The few things I miss are things are not important enough.

If they ask for even a bit of data from me, they have lost me.

Best way to get ridden of these annoyances is using a good RSS reader, one of these that can get the full article even if it is not included in the RSS file. Of course, it doesn't always work, and pagination breaks them. But when it works, it's bliss.

And Milennials tore that one in half, cleaned up with tissue paper, and left the other half on the roll. Guess what Centennials are doing know.

In each generation there are all kinds of people. And the problem is the 'I don't see a problem', the 'don't care', the 'why me?' and the 'me first' people are always too many for us as a society to do the right thing at the right time.

@lispi314 @ceresbzns @mainframed767

I agree on most of what you have just said.

I could argue that voluntary socialization frequently involves masking and nonsense. People uses makeup, filters, drugs, hides their feelings or their weird sense of humor... It depends. But I agree with your point: work is usually more restrictive.

I have never been interested in morphological freedom, but I can understand other people wanting it. For me, shopping clothes is a real chore; choosing a whole body seems much worse. To each its own.

@lispi314 @ceresbzns @mainframed767

We'll see.

Never got the point of metaverses and immersive cyberspace.

For regular computing or internet browsing, it seems like a form of skeuomorphism gone really bad. 2D GUIs are nearly always more intuitive and efficient.

For socializing, who knows, but, really, all my work calls nowadays are audio only, and not because a lack of cameras. We started with video, but gradually switched all cameras off. It is simply easier.

For hardcore gaming, yes, I can see it. For casual gaming, not a chance.

@lispi314 @ceresbzns @mainframed767

Believe me, the hangover after 8 hours with your mind in an immersive cyberspace would be much, much worse. Your body requires your mind to be healthy. Even dreaming you are watching it; take that out and you're in trouble.

But there is worse. Imagine a fire, flood or stroke while in cyberspace. Your life expectancy would be clearly reduced.

@hispa

Y funciona incluso mejor.

A veces se me cae de la mesa, pero eso ya es otro mundo.
