What's wrong with women celebrating themselves? Why does that make us arrogant or vain? Why can't we tell the world "I'm most definitely smart, strong, and gorgeous"?
I love to see selfies. I love it when women celebrate themselves. We are amazing and telling us to be more humble when the world is ALWAYS finding negative in us is nonsense.
I'm a cis hetero woman who loves the strength of other women. I love to see them celebrate themselves.

@Jennyjinx whenever I hear of some controversy involving genders I like to do a thought experiment (its so enlightening at times). So I think I'm going to say I'm most definitely smart, strong, and handsome. And If I say that, I might not be able to take myself seriously. FWIW (probably not much) I truly cringe at anyone using the term cis hetero. And yes, I'm not some neaderthal- I have several degrees. Doesn't mean I have to be a sheep and follow such fads. #mytwocents
@johnpotter I'm not being a "sheep". I'm being respectful of folks who identify otherwise.
@Jennyjinx I just don't like the term- its a little too precious for me. And I will NEVER use it- nor will anyone I know. The academics pushing such terminology have an obvious agenda - its not about being respectful. Its about changing societal norms and expectations.
@johnpotter I used to feel that way. But I feel to be more inclusive I can change my language just a bit. It doesn't change who I am (and I think I'm pretty awesome). And I wanted to highlight that my post wasn't something sexual. I wanted to be uplifting.
I saw someone complain about a lovely woman sharing her selfies and that bothered me. It wasn't meant as an academic endeavor. Just a bit of cheerleading.
@Jennyjinx Society does a number on female self-esteem in this society. Its terrible. Most men (imo) are clueless about that- and many fail to see a) how they contribute to that and b) the long-term consequences that follow.
@johnpotter I agree. Men are conditioned to be alphas (generally). Mostly confident - at least outwardly. Women are constantly told how to improve. My (former) dentist told me veneers would make my smile pretty. Before I fired him I said "My smile is beautiful". A lot of women can't see that in themselves.
