I’m trying to get back to #inboxzero. I lapsed for a while having been tempted by new functionality to “snooze” emails (make them temporarily disappear from your inbox until a specified date).
Today’s #APOD is a #video about the power of ten, made in the late 70’s.
I won’t share it here because I believe there are better and more recent videos to explain the HUGE scale difference between the very very small, sub-atomic and the very very large, astronomical scales.
I like the one below, made by Harry Evett. On that video you can see the difference between the smallest scale we know, until the largest one.

These are baby stingrays. They look like aliens stuck in ravioli.

"Become an astronomer," they said. "It'll be fun," they said.
Chile has some of the best skies for nighttime observing, thanks to its many high and dry desert mountains. The lack of moisture means most nights of the year are cloud-free 😎🌌

Emacs' repeat-mode https://karthinks.com/software/it-bears-repeating/ was introduced with Emacs 28 and is one of the minor modes that make living in Emacs so much easier. #emacs
#MaunaLoa Telescope update!
The ATLAS units have been shut down finally and people have left. The picture below was taken by one of those folks.
The power is out, it's possible the power lines were taken out by lava. It will be a while before people can go back and check on material.
Until then ATLAS still has 3 units across the globe to detect any potentially dangerous asteroids that could hit earth!
So we stay safe from the sky whilst we admire the power of mother Earth 🙏 🌋

55 years ago #today Jocelyn Bell discovered the first known pulsar -- a star the size of a city, spinning once a second, whipping up intense radio signals that sounded like the beep-beep-beep of an alien signal.

The path to bringing you a great email experience on Android devices begins with K-9 Mail, which joined the Thunderbird family earlier this summer.
As we work towards a modern redesign of desktop Thunderbird, we’re also working to improving K-9 Mail as it begins its transition to Thunderbird mobile in Summer 2023.

I have been using Git a long, long time. I have worked on Git clients and libraries. At some places I've worked, I am the person folks go to when they need Git help.
And yet, only today I learned you can pass -m to commit twice (or more) and it will do the right thing of making each successive message a new paragraph (which is useful for the convention of a short summary as a single first line and following paragraphs as a more detailed message).
In case you don’t believe the same equations govern #motion in the #atmosphere and the #ocean.
