Those of you coming from #facebook - what do you use as a facebook #groups replacement? It would be cool to have a #fediverse group equivalent

What functionality are you missing from fb groups?
@jump_spider I think the workflow would be like
- group is created for a particular topic
- user joins a group
- user automatically receives any posts created by group members
- user can post into group and post is sent to all group members
- users don’t have to follow all other users in the group; by joining the group they automatically get looped into the conversation

Discovery is difficult right now, but https://matrix.org can possibly cover that use case

A valid concern. There's an awesome-self-hosted list on github, I haven't plumbed it in a while, but there might be something on it

@jump_spider hmm that’s a cool idea.. although I feel like that might be too overwhelming for non-technical users (the ppl I’m trying to liberate from facebook)
