My second favorite type of reply on Twitter in response to any criticism of the bird site is "You are angry. Therefor I, a random person from the internet, have won a great victory!"

My dear sir, you may not be aware of this, but my track record in destroying things that have made me angry is pretty solid. I have done fifteen years of privacy and security activism powered almost entirely by rage and I win a lot.

I think everyone who's worked in DevOps at one point or another has speculated "what would happen if the entire SRE team quit?" and at twitter we're going to get to find out apparently.

Sharing IOCs on Mastodon

A few things all the new infosec peeps should know.

Boost this for visibility please.

Text search does not work here

So if you're going to post an IOC in any way, it's best to at least add the hashtag "#IOC" to the post.

All punctuation breaks hashtags, except for underscore.

I don't currently know of any efforts to track that hashtag and index the IOCs being shared. However, once a project takes off to do that, having them historically in the hashtag would be good.

If you know of a project to start doing that, please reply to this and share.

One thing that's getting a little lost in this mix, is that some of the people desperately holding on at Twitter are because they are trapped by either healthcare or visas.

That there are systemic traps that trap worker in America so they feel unable to move freely to new employers who want them and would have better pay or conditions is *nuts* and deserves a lot more attention than it gets.

#Postdoc position to investigate cGAS-STING-dependent signaling in drosophila. A three-year postdoc position starting in spring 2023 with Jean-Luc Imler and 🐘krin_meignin@drosophila.social at IBMC in Strasbourg (France). #immunity #drosophila #virus

Here are some more #paintings from the tiny truck series. These ones are especially tiny paintings, around 3 inches on the longest side. These were painted in #acrylagouache by Holbein which has become my go-to medium for this series. My favorite one to paint was obviously the #cats one. 🐈🚐

Howdy, here are some of my first illustrative truck #paintings in #gouache. I would see these tiny trucks everywhere outside the US when I traveled and I would love seeing them in all their forms and uses. Now I use them as a vehicle for story telling in a series of illustrations I’ve been working on for a few years.

the bottom left one loooooool

@patrickmathews such elegant style yet with such dirty puns you genius

Some more tiny truck #paintings. This set is more focused on quiet scenes. I also included a #cat in each which will be a thing going forward. Again in #acrylagouache. I also included my ongoing cyclops archeological mini series within the larger #keitruck series.

@gcrkrause No Starch Press, Pluto Press, Leanpub, Inform IT, Gumroad are where I’ve bought DRM free ebooks from

So in my sparetime I have been writing this open-source game, a mmorpg called a MUD (no graphics in the typical sense, all ncurses based).

Anyway, I never would have thought the most complicated part of writing the game engine would have possibly been the handling of pronouns! The number of variations you have to consider is astounding when you really try to catalog all the different types.

I think I finally got them all covered though.

@vwbusguy Curious do you remember when you started out in how did you feel about the value/object difference? When I used to tutor Python or Java that was a common struggle among students first learning about function.

Ohhhhh, amazing! It’s looking like the #rustlang restrictions RFC will likely be accepted!

This will remove the need for sealed traits, and will instead allow writing:

pub impl(crate) trait Foo {}

Which indicates the trait is public, but can only be implemented by the crate! It will also include:

pub struct Time {
pub mut(crate) millis: usize,
}

To enable fields to be marked read-only in public APIs!

Initially our reusable workflow to build Debian/RPM/Docker packages for #Rust projects lived in the special /.github repo. But, now that it's matured and made for a wider audience, having a dedicated repo is much nicer for contributions and issues. So here it is, the "Ploutos" project. #rustlang github.com/NLnetLabs/ploutos

Hi everyone! If you've been getting sporadic 500 errors while posting, that should be fixed now! ✨

It turns out there was a database change made between Mastodon 4.0.0rc1 and rc2, but the release notes said no database migration is required, nor did they mention this change at all...
